The Pens Our Team Actually Uses

An Unscientific Survey
We asked four people on the team what pen was actually in their hand when they wrote today’s page. Nobody prepared an answer.
The results were less coordinated, and more honest, than we expected.
What Showed Up
Two fine-tip gel pens, one battered fountain pen inherited from a parent, and one pencil, because “pen pressure makes my hand tired by page ninety.”
No consensus, no single “right” tool — just four people who’d each found what got out of their own way.
The Actual Takeaway
The pen matters less than whether you’ve stopped thinking about it. All four people described their pick the same way: “I just grabbed it and forgot about it.”
That’s the bar. Whatever you already reach for without thinking is probably already the right one.
“No consensus on the pen. Total consensus on the real requirement: stop thinking about it and just write.”
If this resonates, the Etc category has more in the same vein, or start with the Pulse Journal itself if you’d rather put it into daily practice.
